Winston joined InnovMarine in October of 2020 and is responsible for developing and expanding our consulting services to new markets. A marine industry veteran, Winston is a naval architect by training and has many years of experience designing various craft in the US and Canada. Starting as a junior, Winston’s career swiftly progressed to senior naval architect, engineering manager then general manager of a small shipyard start-up in Vancouver, Canada. In 2006 he completed an MBA at the University of Warwick (UK) where his dissertation was on the systematic capture of emergent strategy for small and medium sized enterprise.
Winston has been teaching naval architecture at the Marine Institute of Newfoundland since 2006 and was responsible for introducing Rhino3D and virtual reality to the curriculum. Winston’s notable academic achievements included writing and presenting a paper on the use of virtual reality in ship design and construction for the International Conference on Computer Applications in Shipbuilding in Singapore in 2017.
Winston lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland where he enjoys spending time with his family, cats and a stubborn Airedale named Gromit. His little spare time is spent working on his too old convertible, gaming, and rehearsing and gigging with his rock band of middle-aged dads.
